User Profiles
User Profiles
User profiles can be created within the system to “stamp” accounts at any point. Instead of having to set each permission individually, an admin can set a profile or template for the account.
Profiles speed up the onboarding process and ensures that mistakes are not made with permissions.
If a permission is ever added, changes in the profile will be inherited by users with that profile.
The system will track if duplicate profiles are ever created.
Example
Supposedly an admin manages a large group of users and most of the users are divided into two user personas.
The first user persona may have all vault permissions, but only project creation permissions in the management tab.
The second persona may have everything in the vault, groups, and everything about teams and only one permission about projects. Instead of the admin tediously granting specific roles and permissions to each of these already determined users, the admin can simply use the user profile upon creation to establish predefined sets of permission based on each user persona.
To create a user profile:
Go to in
Users
and scroll down toUser Profiles
Click the
Create new user role
button located in the top right corner.
A modal will appear that prompts you to type the following details:
- The user profile name in the top left corner
- Whether or not the user with this profile can escrow their keys on the login
- Select one of the following roles:
- User
- Sub-administrator
- Administrator
- Super-administrator
- Check or un-check the permission boxes on the right panel
- When happy with the changes click .
Next time a user is in activation, the admin can use the profile rather than going through each dropdown.
A user profile can be Edited
or Deleted
by selecting the name of the user profile and utilizing the info panel that opens to the top right or by right-clicking on the selected profile.
Users can be given a profile at any point. If the role of the profile is not the same as the user to which you would like to apply the profile, it will not work.
Users can be given profiles by going to the Users
section, selecting the specified user and clicking on the Apply profile
button in the top right corner as seen in the video below.
